Removing the Rii i8+ from its packaging I was instantly impressed with its size and weight. The Rii i8+ fits comfortably in your hands and you can tell that Riitek has thought carefully about its design. The i8 is lightweight but does not feel cheap at all. Riitek has clearly gone for a different design style with the i8 that is very different to what one would normally expect a remote control to look like. It is intended to be used easily with two hands with all keys reachable by your thumbs without needing to reposition your hands. The Rii i8+ plus keyboard is available in a range of colours including black, green, blue, white and yellow.
The Rii i8+ contains all the key functions that you should require for your media player and comes with a QWERTY keyboard layout that allows you to type easily. This is great as using a standard remote to type using an onscreen keyboard is a real pain. Also included in the keyboard are navigational keys, media control keys and mouse functionality.
One big plus side to the Rii i8+ is the inclusion of the trackpad. The trackpad makes it very easy to navigate your media player and is especially great to have when you are running an android app that int exactly designed to be used on the TV. Tapping the track pad once functions as a left click of a mouse, double tapping is right click and two finger dragging is for page scroll.
The Rii i8+ comes with an inbuilt battery that is rechargeable using the included charge cable. The i8+ charges quickly, taking only a few hours to fully charge and the battery life on the keyboard is fantastic.
